Tea Time Thoughts No. 2

tea time thoughts no. 2

I’m so excited to share another Tea Time Thoughts post! Thank you for kind comments on the announcement of this new series last week. I still cannot believe how many of you remember the Tea Time Tuesday series on my Youtube channel…that was such a fun season in my life and a special time in the Youtube space. If you’ve supported my content over the years or if you’ve found me recently, thank you. It means the world to me!

Now that it’s the beginning of August, I’m focusing on getting organized and prepared for the upcoming fall season. It may not feel like we’re close to autumn, but it’ll be here before we know it. Over the weekend I saw that Walt Disney World has already put up their fall decorations in Magic Kingdom! Crazy.

Here’s how I’m getting organized and planning for the upcoming season

1 – New Planner / Calendar

Even though I’m not in school, I got into the habit of buying calendars for the academic year. I like to plan my content and schedule clients according to the beginning of the school year. I’ve used many different planners and calendars over the years and my favorite system is Day Designer. I purchased this daily planner to use this year. I love that it has a daily top three checklist. This helps me stay focused and prioritize my top tasks each day. Plus, their cover designs are so pretty!

2 – Travel Prep

We’re going on a road trip this weekend and I’ve been busily preparing for our trip. Matt and I haven’t been to South Carolina in awhile so we’re driving to the upstate first to visit my family, and then to Charleston to visit his family. I can’t wait! My sister and brother-in-law will also be visiting from California which means we get to see our niece, Nusa! It’ll be the first time that my entire family has been together since she was born. So special.

I’m taking this massive nylon tote bag that holds all of my travel essentials for the car ride. I love it because it cleans easily and holds everything. Books, notepads, snacks, Mickey’s water bowl + treats, sanitizer wipes, and any other bits and bobs I like to have nearby while we’re on the road. I’m bringing along this book to read which was highly recommended to me when I asked you all for recommendations last week. Can’t wait to read it!

3 – Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Yes, it can be overhyped. But I think the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is great if you shop from a practical perspective to get the most out of the sale. The sale is the perfect time to invest in a piece you’ve been eyeing for awhile or stock up on the staples you know you love. This year I did the latter. I stocked up on my favorites – wireless bra (sooo comfy), underwear, petite jeans, and a new pair of pearl earrings. If you’re looking for a classic item to add to your wardrobe now is the perfect time to invest. This trench coat, quilted waterproof jacket, and moto jacket are all great pieces that can be worn year after year.

4 – Vintage Trinkets

Every month or so I like to find a few affordable items to refresh the atmosphere in our home. I easily get bored of seeing the same things each and every day while working at home. I know it’s not feasible (or sustainable) to buy new furniture often so I like to look for small items to switch things up a bit. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with scouring Etsy for vintage trinkets. Etsy has some of the best finds and it’s a great way to support small businesses.

I ordered this cute heart-shaped vintage Wedgwood trinket dish to house my jewelry on my dresser. The delicate embossed border around the edges is beautiful. I also found this Wedgwood trinket box – how cute is the scalloped shape?! I’ve also become slightly obsessed with vintage lipstick holders. My grandmother used to keep one on her vanity and I remember admiring it when I was young. This one with a mirrored tray is so pretty and I love the cameo detail on this one.

5 – Transitional Dress Find

The weather in Florida doesn’t get cooler until early November (and even then, it isn’t cold). However, I like to have a few pieces in my wardrobe that can be layered with cardigans or sweaters when it does start getting cooler in the evenings. I purchased this cotton poplin dress from the J.Crew summer sale and I think it’ll be perfect for layering as we move into the fall season. I bought it in navy, but it’s also available in white and tan. It’s such a classic and flattering silhouette, plus the length makes it wearable on many occasions. PS – it’s also still on sale for an additional half off!
