Top Beauty Purchases and Favorites from 2017

[dropcap custom_class=”big”] I made an effort this year to pare down my beauty purchases and only buy/use products and brands that I truly adore. As a self-professed beauty junkie, this was easier said than done. 😉 However, after compiling my top beauty favorites of 2017, I’m happy to say that most of these products have been {or will be} repurchased time and time again. When selecting products this year, I chose quality or quantity, opting for purchasing from mostly higher end or luxury brands – going back to many old favorites from my Bluemercury days. The research and development behind luxury brands is what attracted me to cosmetics in the first place. To me, there’s nothing better than a beautifully crafted palette or lipstick.  [/dropcap]

Here are my top beauty purchases and favorite products from 2017:

MAKEUP

Burberry Fresh Glow Primer in Nude Radiance – This primer leaves your skin with a soft, subtle glow. It’s not sticky and feels weightless underneath foundation. See a full review here.

Diorskin Forever Perfect Skin Foundation –  This is a newer discovery for me but I’m in love. Since moving to Florida, I’m in constant search for humidity proof products and this full coverage foundation controls shine and holds up beautifully, even after a long day at Disney World.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Full Coverage Concealer {in Medium} –  A little goes a long way with this one – it instantly brightens and lasts all day without creasing. I love layering it underneath the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer.

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer – I’m pretty sure everyone’s tried this concealer by now but it’s popular for good reason. Great for contouring, super creamy, and full coverage.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder –  My all-time favorite setting powder for concealer. It locks concealer in place with an airbrushed finish. The powder contains tiny light reflecting particles that instantly brighten and camouflage dark circles. I’ve been using this for years.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour – These are perfect if you’re looking for a quick and easy eye look that lasts all day. They blend without much effort {I use my fingertips} and can be worn alone or as a base for eye shadow.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Palette {in Warm Nude} – Warm, shimmery metallic shadows that are soft and highly pigmented. I use this as eye shadow and for highlighting.

Tarteist Pro To Go Palette – My go-to palette for travel this year. It has six shadows, three matte and three metallics, that can be used to create a variety of looks – day and night.

Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Palette – This palette contains only matte shadows.  I love using this for my brows, as eyeliner, and on days when I want a subtle eye look.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – The best mascara for holding a curl. The curl lasts allllll day.

Burberry Fresh Glow Highlighting Powder {in Rose Gold} – My favorite highlighter for a rose gold glow. Not only is the packaging gorgeous, the powder has a lovely embossed lace detail. See my full review and photos here.

Burberry Lip Colour Contour {in Medium} –  I’ve been using this in place of lip liner. The pen applicator is easy to use and it blends easily using my fingertip – giving the appearance of full, contoured lips. {full review here}

Rouge Dior Liquid Lipstick {in Hypnotic Matte} – The perfect every day, rosey pink shade. The formula is non-drying and soft.

Smith & Cult The Shining Lip Lacquer {in Hi-Speed Sonnet} – A beautiful, bright pink lip lacquer with gold shimmer. I love wearing this alone and on top of lipsticks for an additional shine. It stains the lips slightly so after it’s worn off your lips still maintain a bright, fresh color.

SKINCARE

Burt’s Bees Cleansing Towelettes – I love using these to remove my eye makeup. They are fragrance free and perfect if you have sensitive eyes.

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Cleanser – This gel-based cleanser helps prevent blemishes with ingredients like coconut, lemon, and aloe. Although it’s deep cleaning, it never leaves my skin feeling overly dry or tight.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm – A new favorite. I started using this in November but I had to include it. This balm dissolves makeup effortlessly and leaves my skin feeling so smooth. My combination skin has become much more balanced after incorporating this in my daily routine. And bonus…it smells like a spa, making it the ultimate pampering cleanser.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 1970 – My friend told me about this last year but I just recently got around to ordering it….I wish I’d done it sooner. It has truly transformed my skin. {and Matt’s!} My hormonal breakouts have almost been nonexistent since using this toner. It contains lactic acid that deeply exfoliates, balances, and hydrates your skin. I will never be without this one.

La Mer The Concentrate – I’ve been a huge La Mer fan for years. It’s one of those brands that my skin loves – every time I incorporate one of their products, my skin improves. The Concentrate is a soothing elixir that leaves your skin feeling velvety soft. If you use any type of chemical exfoliators or treatments, this is the perfect compliment. It helps to strengthen your skin using a high dosage of La Mer’s signature Miracle Broth. Although it has a hefty price tag, a little goes a long way.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream – I use this cream every morning. It’s packed with antioxidants and leaves my skin feeling hydrated, plumped, and refreshed.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion – I discovered this microdermabrasion through a deluxe sample at Sephora and immediately fell in love. It deeply cleanses my pores and makes my skin feel incredible.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels –  The perfect instant pick me up when I haven’t had enough sleep. I’ve tried a few brands and continuously go back to these.

HAIR CARE

Oribe Bright Blonde Shampoo – This shampoo is bright purple and helps get rid of brassiness in blonde hair. It also smells divine.

Oribe Bight Blonde Conditioner – Same as the shampoo, it’s purple and helps maintain blonde hair. Super hydrating but doesn’t weigh down my hair.

Oribe Royal Blowout – My secret weapon against the Florida humidity. It keeps my hair frizz free, smooths down flyaways, and acts as a heat protectant.

Ouai Medium Hairspray – I like this hairspray because it isn’t too sticky. It has a very fine mist and smells like a summer vacation.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – I can’t live without this product. I use it for volume, style, hold, and to refresh my style in between washes. I’ve probably been through 5 or 6 bottles this year.

MISC.

Diptyque Eau de Sens – I love this fragrance because it’s so unique – it’s bright, spicy, and refreshing. It has notes of orange blossom, bitter orange, juniper berry, and patchouli. I love wearing this, especially in the spring/summer.

Pacifica Deodorant Wipes – I carry these with me to freshen up throughout the day. They smell like fresh coconut.

Coola Guava Mango Sunscreen – The best, powerful sunscreen with good ingredients. It smells amazing, too. This is a must-have, especially here in the sunshine state.
