Products You Need This Winter | My Winter Skin & Hair Essentials for Dry Skin

[dropcap custom_class=”big”]During the winter months, I look for skin and hair products that are nourishing, protective, and moisturizing. I’ve realized that the older I get {kinda in denial that I’ll be 32 at the end of this month haha! AAH} the more my skin requires rich, hydrating products – especially during the colder months in the winter. I noticed a huge difference in my skin and hair a couple of weeks ago when we were visiting South Carolina when it snowed. The dry air we experienced during our time there wasn’t something that I’m used to living in central Florida.  The lack of humidity left my skin in desperate need for intense hydration. These are a few of my winter skin and hair care essentials and are must haves if you experience dry skin! [/dropcap]

BODY:

Dry Brush – I dry brush my skin year-round. I’ve talked about this in many videos but dry brushing drastically improves the texture and tone of your skin. It’s super easy to incorporate into your routine. I like to dry brush right before I take a shower. I keep my EcoTools brush hanging on the door in my bathroom so it’s easy for me to remember. Gently dry brushing your skin exfoliates, improves lymph flow, increases circulation, and diminishes the appearance of cellulite.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox Frothy Scrub – I love this body scrub because it foams and froths and smells amazing – a light amber-y scent that is rich yet refreshing. This scrub doesn’t feel dry and gritty because it emulsifies with water and creates a soft foam. It contains volcanic clay that deeply cleans pores and detoxes the skin.

L’Occitane Cleansing and Softening Shower Oil with Almond Oil – I am obsessed with the entire almond line from L’Occitane. First of all, the scent is true decadence. It’s rich and sweet yet not overpowering. I’m typically not a fan of sugary sweet, gourmand scents but this one is not over the top. The shower oil is super hydrating, yet doesn’t leave an oily film on your skin. It creates a milky texture when combined with water that melts – leaving it feeling silky smooth and moisturized. It makes a great shaving oil, too!

L’Occitane Almond Smoothing and Beautifying Milk Concentrate – Continuing with my almond obsession, this body cream is super rich and hydrating. It absorbs quickly and the fluffy, mousse-like texture leaves skin feeling soft and supple.

L’Occitane Almond Smoothing and Beautifying Supple Skin Oil – The body oil is one of L’Occitane’s cult favorites and for good reason – it’s the best body oil I’ve used to date. The spray bottle makes it easy to apply and it melts into the skin, keeping it moisturized for hours and hours. This body oil is amazing on its own or mixed with the Milk Concentrate. I love combining the two when I feel like my skin needs a little extra hydration and nourishment.

SKIN CARE:

La Mer The Concentrate – I know. La Mer is a pricy line but there’s really nothing like it, especially when it comes to hydration. It was created by the scientist Dr. Max Huber who was in search of a something that would heal the chemical burns on his face. He experimented with sea kelp because of its rich mineral components and after twelve years, finally created the perfect healing combination. All of La Mer’s products contain his potent creation known as Miracle Broth. Years ago, when I had the opportunity to attend a training for La Mer, the story of Miracle Broth was truly inspiring. It was created by using a combination of light and sound energy and a biofermentation process of various healing ingredients. The Concentrate is a powerful serum that deeply penetrates and heals the skin. This is a must-have for wind burn, redness, scarring, or irritation. The texture is velvety soft, blurring fine lines and pores while acting as a protective barrier for your skin. The Concentrate is one of my all-time favorite skin care products.

La Mer The Soft Lotion – I go back to this lotion every time I’m in need of a deep, healing moisturizer. It’s incredibly hydrating, but the texture is still light enough for my combination skin. There are many variations of La Mer moisturizers and The Soft Lotion and The Gel Creme are my favorites, the latter being my choice in the spring/summer.

HAIR:

Kopari Coconut Melt – I love using this as a hair mask, especially during colder months when my hair gets dry and brittle. I put a little on my ends, wrap my hair in a low bun, and leave it in for 30 minutes up to an hour…depending on how much time I have. I feel like coconut oil gets a bad rep as a hair mask because it can be difficult to wash out but there’s a trick! Add shampoo to your hair while it’s still dry, then rinse, and then shampoo again.

Oaui Hair Oil – Hair oils aren’t something I normally gravitate towards. I have fine hair and I don’t like using heavy oils, however, the Ouai Hair Oil is smoothing without weighing it down. One pump leaves my hair so soft and shiny. It smells amazing, too. A gorgeous blend of gardenias and ylang ylang.
